Jodie Foster To Give Up Acting, Wants To Direct Science Fiction Flick

We guess she wants to focus on directing from now on!

Jodie Foster, who just finished up taking the directorial reigns on the upcoming Mel Gibson drama, The Beaver, has revealed that she wants to give up acting for good, and has even signed on to direct a new science fiction film!

She explains:

"I've reached that point where I don't want to act very much anymore. I am much more interested in holding off on acting, after 45 years as an actor. It's a long period of time to do the same thing. [Her new science fiction project] There's a family element to it, but it's much more a genre movie. I'd like to do that because that's a world I live in as an actor but I've never really gone to as a director. It's not anywhere close to being ready. [I don't write], so that always puts me at the mercy of some enormous talent that comes out of the woodwork that somehow has the same obsessions as me."

Well, seeing as she's set to appear in the film Elysium, we're relieved to know she's not giving up acting all-together, but think it's great that she's continuing to expand beyond her comfort zone and direct a genre piece!

Lawsuit Against Dr. Dre Dismissed!

Oh well!

Detroit officials reportedly attempted to sue Dr. Dre and Eminem for recording and releasing a 2000 confrontation they had backstage during a concert at the Joe Louis arena, claiming that they had no right to put in their Up In Smoke national concert tour DVD, but the case has been dismissed!

According to legal reports, Brown warned organizers that power would be turned off if they showed a sexual explicit video during the concert, which was being taped for behind-the-scenes footage. Brown has since argued that his privacy was violated when this exchange was released, but Dre's lawyer, Herschel Fink, argued successfully that there is no privacy when a policeman is doing his job.

Fair enough, we'd say! Sucks for him, but the law is the law!

Now that the final season of Entourage will be airing this summer, castmember Kevin Dillon has set his sights on a brand new pilot for CBS, called How To Be A Gentleman!

The comedy, which is written by It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia's David Hornsby and based on the book How to Be a Gentleman: A Contemporary Guide to Common Courtesy, which will feature the actor in the role of Bert.

Fourth Grader Brings COCAINE To School, Shares It With Classmates!

Wow. This is truly just sad.

A fourth grade student in Washington, D.C. was charged with drug possession yesterday after he allegedly brought cocaine to his school and shared it with classmates!

Yeah. Fourth grade. Unbelievable.

Public school officials reported that four children from Thomson Elementary School either sniffed or swallowed the illegal substance, and had to be taken to the hospital to be checked out. All were fine, aside from sore throats.

According to a letter sent home to parents, authorities and child protective services will be investigating how the student in question got the cocaine, and counselors will be brought in on Monday to discuss drug awareness.

Unreal. It scares us to think that kids that age even know what cocaine is, let alone have access to it.

We seriously hope this is a wake-up call to parents and school administrators alike, and that they can truly make an effort to be aware of what young people are being potentially exposed to and prevent a travesty like this from happening again!

IPad 2 Delayed In Japan

Due to the recent tragic events, Apple had made the decision to delay the iPad 2's launch in Japan.

Here's what Apple said about it in a statement:

"We are delaying the launch of the iPad 2 in Japan while the country and our teams focus on recovering from the recent disaster. Our hearts go out to the people of Japan, including our employees and their families, who have been impacted by this terrible tragedy."

In the meanwhile, Apple has announced that they'll be collecting donations for the Red Cross on their iTunes site.

Whole Foods Market will be launching their first-ever Whole Foods Market Do Something Reel Film Festival, which is being held this April in honor of Earth Month, in an effort to “serve as reminder of small changes people can make for good while supporting budding green-genre filmmakers.”

It has recently come to our attention that Chloe Sevigny has a post-Big Love project in the works!

That's right, our beloved Chloe is set to star in an HBO miniseries about Lizzie Borden, "who, in 1893, was acquitted of murdering her overbearing father and step-mother with a hatchet, but was publically condemned."

The miniseries is being executive produced by Tom Hanks & Gary Goetzman. Chloe Sevigny will also co-executive produce herself.

By now, you've probably figured out that glee club is heading to NY for Nationals. But there are two big episodes along the way that are also pretty big deals.

In a recent interview, Cory Monteith revealed that the gang is currently working on two new episodes. The first is called Born This Way and as previously speculated, it will pay homage to Lady GaGa's latest smash anthem. Cory explained:

"One, 'Born This Way', is a classic Glee episode where we explore embracing the things about ourselves that we don't like and tailoring our performances around that."

No doubt there will be a confrontation between Kurt and Karofsky! Looking forward to that!

After that, the gang will tackle the hits of "artists that may have been neglected or underappreciated over the years," such as Bjork, though Cory admits nothing has been cleared on that front yet.

Besides specific episodes plans, it has also been revealed that the staff at McKinely will be adding a new face to the fold. Sources reveal that when the show comes back from it's hiatus (yes, we will be without it for a few weeks after tonight), the school will be welcoming Dr. Shane, "a very smart, cool and kind psychiatrist." No word yet on who has landed the role of the good doctor or whose psychological problems he or she has been brought in to deal with. They certainly don't have slim pickings though! Between the OCD guidance counselor, the closeted cheerleader and the narcissist known as Rachel Berry, whoever they are is going to have their hands full!

It all sounds great to us. We're excited to see where tonight's episode leaves us off so we can use this information for more stealthy speculation.

Grey’s Anatomy Musical LIVE!

Yes, the Grey's Anatomy musical episode was once performed live, but sadly, you'll never get to see it. However, because it happened, Shonda Rhimes was given the okay from ABC to write and shoot the upcoming music event, so in the long run, we all win.

Allow us to explain.

Though she still maintains one of the highest rated shows on the network, Shonda still had to do a little convincing when it came time to pitch her musical episode to the suits at Disney. Knowing it would be an uphill battle, she took preemptive action and decided to show the execs, rather than tell them. Kevin McKidd, who plays Dr. Hunt, explained to sources:

"We had to show the heads of ABC Studios what the idea was all about. We set it up at the studio and made it like a mini-theater and presented a truncated version of the episode as a live performance."

Nice! We hope someone taped it for the DVDs!

After seeing some clips and seeing how hard the cast and Shonda worked to make this a reality, we're really looking forward to it now!

Ja Rule To Release New Album One Day Before Going To Jail!

Well, that's quite a departing gift, isn't it?

Before beginning his two-year jail sentence for gun possession, Ja Rule has promised fans that he will be releasing a new album - one day before reporting to jail!!

Over the weekend, he wrote on his Twitter account:

Breaking news………RENAISSANCE PROJECT JUNE 7th!!! Mpire Music…

Ja pled guilty to attempted criminal possession of a weapon after he was arrested during a traffic stop. Police found an unlicensed .40 caliber handgun in the backseat of his Maybach.

Last week, a judge allowed Ja to finish his album and resolve an outstanding tax issue until June 8.

This will be his first album release since 2007's The Mirror.

We bet Ja fans are happy that the judge granted him time to finish the album.

With four years of material, we have expectations for the new disc. Too bad he won't be able to celebrate the release of his album - unless he has a party of one behind bars.

Whomp whomp.

The lost city of Atlantis may have been found.

Researchers say that the legendary metropolis was believed to have been swamped by a tsunami years ago in an area made up of mud flats about 60 miles north of Cadiz, Spain.

A team of archeologists and geologists say that they've used a combination of deep-ground radar, digital mapping, and underwater technology to find the site.

Head researcher Richard Freund says:

"We found something that no one else has ever seen before, which gives it a layer of credibility, especially for archeology, that makes a lot more sense."

Wow. This is incredible. If the city of Atlantis has truly been found, this would be an EPIC discovery.

Charlie’s Kids Celebrate Their Birthday Without Their Dad

Sad.

Charlie Sheen's boys did not celebrate their birthday with their dad.

Brooke Mueller held a party on Sunday for Bob and Max, who turn 2 on Monday, at the Bel Air home of Kathy and Rick Hilton.

A source said that it was a "casual and child friendly celebration."

Charlie was not invited to the party and wasn't expected to attend.

Even though the boys was with their friends and they seemed "to be having a good time," it's still sad that they couldn't spend their special day with their father.

They're so impressionable at this age so you would think Charlie would try harder to get his act together so that he can spend time with his children.

Hopefully he will learn his lesson so that he can be there for their next birthday.

John Stamos was briefly rumored to be the top-pick replacement for Charlie Sheen on Two and a Half Men, and ever since then, no one has shut up about it. This morning, John hoped to put the situation to rest by speaking with Ryan Seacrest on his morning show and clearing the air once and for all. He explained to Ryan that the talk has "been very flattering, but nobody has officially talked to me and, quite frankly, as flattering as it is, it's really not part of my career plan right now. I'm just on a different trajectory."

He then added:

"I don't want to replace anyone, especially Charlie Sheen. It's just not where my head is at."

That's probably for the best.

Besides, between Glee and Law & Order: SVU, you are far too busy for another show.

Pete Wentz Is Pissed His Pal Is Hooking Up With His Wife!

Can't say we blame the guy! Hasn't he ever heard of "The Bro Code"?

Earlier today, we reported the scoop that Ashlee Simpson has moved on from her not-so-officially ended marriage and is dating Craig Owens, a friend and recording artist under Pete Wentz's record label. Sources close to Pete say that the news of his friend dating his estranged wife has left him "shocked," especially after all he's done for him.

The source close to Pete reveals:

"Pete did a lot for this guy. Craig was in another band and got kicked out. Pete found Craig, built a band around him and signed him. He's shocked at how this guy is repaying him."

For sure! They've only been separated a month. Nothing's even legal yet. It is WAY too soon for Craig to be swooping in on his woman, if even at all!

However, people in AshSim's camp say this relationship is really good for her right now and she needs Craig in her life for comfort. The source explains:

"Ashlee and Craig are longtime friends. They have spent some time together, and he is comforting her throughout this difficult time."

We're glad to hear Ash is reaching out to people in her time of need, but maybe she should have stuck with her sister or her other girlfriends. As if Pete's life isn't difficult enough, not he has to see his protege get some serious face time with his wife!

Two And A Half Men Crew Not Happy With Cryer Comments!

As we brought up earlier, Charlie Sheen has been making enemies out of everyone lately, including his former costar Jon Cryer.

Though we haven't heard much of anything at all from Jon during this bizarre journey though the Sheen dimension, we are hearing that there's some backlash from Sheen's comments about him.

Mainly from the crew members of the show:

“Those comments about Jon are totally unjustified. Everyone working here knows he was one of the most professional cast members who would turn up early and always knew his lines. In fact, he would often eat with the crew and he was very well liked by everybody on the set… he was very popular with everyone.”

Sound like the opposite of a "troll" to us, Charlie!

You guys were friends. It is NOT cool to be lashing out at him for keeping quiet! He hasn't even spoken out against you!

Ja Rule Going To Jail In June

Last month, Ja Rule's sentencing date for his July 2007 New York gun charge was rescheduled to March 9.

Now, the rapper/actor has been sentenced for his two-year prison term, which will begin on June 8.

At least he'll be productive in the meanwhile. According to Ja's lawyer, he'll be finishing his new album Renaissance Project and he'll spend time taking care of "tax matters" until his prison term begins.

As we said before, we hope Ja will learn his lesson after his prison time. Carrying around loaded semi-automatic firearms is NOT acceptable.

Chris Brown Calls Rihanna Assault A "Mishap"

Come on, Chris Brown. Really?

We talked a bit about Chris feeling like that the notion of people wanting to work with him again was like he had been forgiven earlier.

Now, as we find out more from the things he said, he sees what he did as a "mishap" and continues to complain about people "dissing" him or not wanting to work with a woman-beater.

Here's what's being said:

"People are always gonna talk. But I'm in a positive place. I consider myself a grown-ass man," says the star, whose new album F.A.M.E. stands for "Forgiving All My Enemies."

Speaking of forgiveness, Brown says he's done apologizing for the brutal Rihanna attack. "At the end of the day, if I walk around apologizing to everybody, I'm gonna look like a damn fool."

First off, real men don't call themselves "grown-ass."

And going around calling a brutal beating a mishap, while complaining about other people having the integrity not to work with you doesn't make you look like a fool?

Still, he complains that many folks "turn[ed] away. They don't want to get involved with it because they don't want their name attached to anything negative. Unknowingly, they kind of show their true colors when they do that. You can't blame people for how they want to be portrayed or if they don't want to be associated with somebody who had a particular mishap."

Their true colors are this: Oh shizz! This guy beats women and I don't want any part of that, because beating women is wrong!

Sounds like amazing true colors to have!

And just by being passive aggressive in a statement by saying "they kind of show their true colors" IS kinda blaming them, which is pretty easy to see.

Chris, it's disturbing of you to call what is to some women out there a daily and constant struggle a "mishap."

But we guess we wouldn't figure any of those guys who think it's okay to abuse women would really call it anything else, especially when the public is watching and they want their multi-million dollar music career back.
